How can I register?
A: In order to register visit the GAMES webpage and click on the Login button, the register option will also appear. After clicking “register”, a form will appear. Fill in the required information and click on the submit button. The system will create a user account with the information provided. OR will assign a particular role and activate your account within 24 hours. In case of an urgency, drop an email at ospteam@lums.edu.pk requesting an urgent activation of your account.
Why should I register to GAMES?
A: GAMES will assist LUMS community in identifying funding opportunities, monitoring grant application status, resource hiring, seeking bridge financing and various other features to manage research projects efficiently.
How can I Login?
A: Go to the Login option available at the top right corner of the website and enter your LUMS email ID and the password that you use for system login.
How do I change my profile information?
A: To change your profile information click on the arrow sign (available right next to the search button), click on the Profile button and a screen will appear where you can change your personal information. To save the changes click on the submit button.
How can I change my Password?
A: To change your password click on the arrow sign (available right next to the search button), click on the Profile button and a screen will appear where you can change your password, after changing the password click on the submit button to confirm changes.
I have forgotten my password; how do I access my account?
A: Go to Login. An option titled “Trouble login in” will appear, click on that option and an input box will appear requesting you for your email id. Enter your email address and click submit. You will receive an email on your email address. Follow the instructions given there to recover your account.
Are there any specific instructions regarding my password?
A: No, there is no restriction of characters or limitations however you are advised to be careful with the Caps lock key.
How can I access my Dashboard?
A: As you login you will see an option on the left hand side of your screen named Dashboard. You will be able to access your dashboard after clicking on that option.
How can I apply for a Grant?
A: To apply for a grant, click on Application Management> Apply for a grant. Choose a Grant type and click apply. After filling in the required information click on the Submit button.
How do I check my Grants status?
A: To check the status of the grants that have been applied for click on Application Management> My Applications. A list of applications that you have applied for will appear along with the application status.
Can I choose a grant of my choice?
A: Yes. A list of all the external and internal grants is available, you will have to click on Application Management> Apply for a grant and you will be able to choose grant of your choice from the available list.
How do I select an External Grant?
A: To select an external grant click on Application Management> Apply for a grant and you will be able to view a list of all the external grants available. You may choose your desired grant from that list.
What is an Unrestricted Grant?
A: Unrestricted grants are the gifts that are given by donor to the PI. These funds are free from any external restrictions and are made available for use without any specific instructions, audit obligations and are at the discretion of the PI to use.
How do I find out if the Donor has approved my Grant?
A: As soon as the Donor approves your grant, the OR team will update the status of your application as Approved by Donor. You can check the status of your applications in Application Management> My Applications.
Who is authorized to approve or reject my proposal?
A: At First, your proposal will be sent to the Department Chair/Head of Department (HOD) for his approval. It will then be forwarded to the DEAN for his approval. If the DEAN also approves, your proposal, it will be forwarded to the donor by the OR team. Your HOD, Dean and OR may return your application to you in case if there is any change required. You will be able to commence work on the project after the Donor has approved the proposal.
Can a Co-PI, who is not a part of LUMS faculty, apply for a grant?
A: No, a Co-PI who is not a part of LUMS faculty will not be able to apply. However, the PI who is a part of LUMS faculty can apply on their behalf.
Where do I get information about my ‘Activities’?
A: In order to find out about your Upcoming, Approved and Pending activities you will have to click on Dashboard. To get complete information about these click on the more info option.
What is a shared application?
A: If you are a Co-PI in a project, applications submitted by the PI for grant, will be referred to as shared applications.
How can I view the status of my shared applications?
A: To view the status of your shared applications, click on Application Management> Shared Applications and a list of applications along with their status will appear.
How do I get information about my Bridge Financing Requests?
A: To view the status of the Bridge Financing request, click on Research Management> Bridge Financing Request and a list of applications along with their current status will appear.
What is an IRB application?
A: IRB stands for Institutional Review Board (IRB). LUMS IRB is responsible for overseeing all research activities that involve the use of human subjects and animals or issues related to biosafety.
How do I make an IRB request?
A: To make an IRB request you will have to click on Research Management>My Active Grants> Activities and on the right side of the page, you will be able to see an option titled “IRB request”, Click on IRB Request and a form will appear, fill in the required information and click on the submit button.
How do I check the status of my IRB applications?
A: To check the status of the IRB application, click on Research Management> IRB Applications and a list of applications along with their current status will appear.
Where can I view a list of withdrawn application?
A: As you login you will see an option named Withdrawn showing the total number of applications withdrawn by you.
Can I check the total count of my closed applications?
A: Yes, there is an option in dashboard titled Closed showing the total number of applications that have been closed.
How do I check my pending activities?
A: On the main page of the dashboard, there is an option named Pending Activates providing a list of the pending deliverables.
What will be the procedure of submission if a Donor requests for changes?
A: In case the donor ask for minor changes you will have to submit the updated document to OR, if the donor ask for significant changes to be made then the whole routing process will begin again.
What does On Hold applications mean?
A: On hold applications are applications that have not being processed by the OR team due to funding or other internal issues.
How do I sign out of GAMES?
A: To sign out from GAMES, click the arrow sign available on the top right corner of the screen and press the Sign out button.
How do I make resource hiring request?
A: To make a resource hiring request, you will have to click on Research Management> My Active Grants> Actions> Activities and click on Resource Hiring Request.
Can I request more than one resource for a single project?
A: Yes you may hire more than one resource for a project.
Is Faculty Travel Grant (FTG) always open to apply?
A: No, the FTG call is not always open. Faculty will be notified once the call is open.
How do I make Change request in my document?
A: Click on Research Management> My Active Grants>Activities>Change Request option and a form will appear, fill in the required information there and click on the submit button.
How can I download my submitted document?
A: Click on Application Management> My Applications> Actions> View option and the form you submitted will appear. In the attachment section you will see the download option, right next to your document.
How can I switch between two accounts?
A: If you are DEAN or HOD you can switch to PI account. But if you are a PI, then you do not have the facility to switch your account. To switch account, you will have to click on Switch Account option available on the Left navigation pane.
Is it possible to change the Co-PI(s) in a project?
A: Yes, you will have to make a change request in order to change the Co-PI(s).
How do I get extra time to complete a project?
A: you will be required to make a change request to request extra time for the project.
Can I apply for a grant as a Dean?
A: You will have to Login as a PI to apply for a grant.
As a member of the OR team, how do I edit Grant information?
A: Click on Grant Calls and a list of grants will appear, click on the edit option available in the actions field and edit the required information.
How do I delete a particular grant?
A: OR team members may delete a grant by clicking on Grant Calls. A list of grants will appear, click on the delete option available in actions field.
How do I create a new Grant call?
A: To create a new Grant call, click on Grant Calls. The option of Create Call will appear on the right hand side of your screen, Click on that option, fill the required information and submit.
How do I add and edit the URC Committee Members?
A: To add or edit a URC Committee Members, click on Research Committee and you will be able to see an edit option in the actions field and to add a committee you have an option on the right hand side named Add Committee, click on that option fill the required information and submit.
How do I check the bridge financing requests submitted by PI(s)?
A: To check the bridge financing requests, click on PI Activities Management> Bridge Financing Requests and a list of all the bridge financing requests made by PI will appear on your screen.
How can I check the status of IRB requests submitted by PI(s)?
A: To check the IRB requests, click on PI Activities Management> IRB Requests and a list of all the IRB requests made by PI will appear on your screen.
How can I update the status of my application?
A: To update the status of the applications, click on Applications and a list of applications will appear with an option Update Status in the action field, click on that option and update the status.
How can I add a Proposal Review Form Category?
A: To add a category in proposal review form, click on proposal review form and an option Add category will appear on the right side of your screen, click on that option, provide the category title and description and click submit.
How do I Generate an Application Plan?
A: To generate the plan of an application click on in execution applications and a list of applications will appear, in the action field you will see an option Generate Plan. Click on that option, add the activities and the required information and click on the submit button.
How can I see the Plan of PI(s) activities?
A: You will have to click on the Applications option and a list of applications will appear, you will be able to see the plan of the activities by clicking on the star sign.
